Dimapur District Congress Committee members rally against offensive remarks towards Rahul Gandhi
DIMAPUR — Members of Dimapur District Congress Committee (DDCC) gathered at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur, on Saturday to protest the hateful remarks made against leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi by BJP leaders and their allies.
They were referring to the statement made by BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah on September 11 warning Rahul Gandhi to behave or meet the same fate as her grandmother. Also the Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Bittu called Rahul Gandhi the “number one terrorist of the country”.
In another case, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad announced a bounty of INR 11 lakh for anyone who will cut the tongue of the leader of opposition. They also referred to UP Minister Raghuraj Singh’s remarks that Rahul was the ‘number one terrorist of India’.
Kutoho Chishi, president of DDCC, asserted that Rahul Gandhi should not be treated in such a manner. He said that respect should be given to one another and such cases should not occur again.

He accused the central government of ignoring and neglecting ‘whatever happens to the Congress leaders’. Terming the threat made against Rahul Gandhi unacceptable, he said that they will take their next step of protest as per the directives of the party’s central leaders.
Rajesh Kumar Sethi Jain, the national coordinator of INC minority cell, claimed that the BJP is targeting Rahul Gandhi because they felt threatened by him. He called for a high-level investigation into the threats and remarks made against his party leader.

According to the Congress leader, they have already submitted a petition to the president and the prime minister but have yet to receive any response. If the inaction continues, he said that the party will be compelled to file an FIR.
He also questioned the inaction of the prime minister and the union home minister as violence continues in Manipur and warned of the possibilities of similar incidents in Nagaland as a result of the BJP’s divide and rule policy among different communities.
