Dimapur administration to check ILP defaulters

Dimapur: Following reports from various stakeholders on the presence of non-indigenous persons in Dimapur district without Inner Line Permit (ILP) and in line with Home department notification dated December 9, 2019, and March 6, 2020, Dimapur administration has decided to conduct checking on ILP defaulters.

A notification issued by the deputy commissioner of Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal informed that every non-indigenous person entering area of Dimapur district should possess ILP. It added that a person is passing through the district of Dimapur to other states as transit passenger should have valid ticket should possess the ILP.

It added that every non-indigenous person settled or who has entered the area of Dimapur district after November 21, 1979, and who have not yet obtained the ILP should be compulsorily required to procure ILP from the office of the deputy commissioner, Dimapur, within 30 days from issue of this notification. It added that the defaulters would be initiated penal action as per the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873 (BEFR Act).

It further added that a joint task force of district administration and police would be constituted to conduct regulate ILP checking and maintain vigil for the strict implementation of the ILP.
