With due diligence and application of mind I have decided to voluntarily retire from service as of 07.01.2023.  I believe that this is the right moral decision that I have taken in the best interest of all concerned. I have taken this decision after due consultation with my family and with due approval of the government leadership.

I am very grateful to the Government of India and the Government of Nagaland for the confidence reposed in me as DGP Nagaland,  by extending my service , in public interest, by six months beyond my superannuation i.e. from 01.09.2022 to 28.02.2023.

I am very grateful to the Government of Nagaland for reposing faith and confidence in my leadership, as Director General of Police, to lead the Nagaland Police Department, which I have done so,  for 4 years and 6 months. I am deeply grateful to all Officers and all ranks of the Nagaland Police department for the support and co-operation  extended to me throughout my tenure. I believe that I have given my best effort to contribute to the public service as an IPS Officer.  I confidently leave the Nagaland Police Department with satisfaction , knowing that I leave it in the very capable hands of many outstanding officers and ranks. I congratulate and wish my successor Shri Rupin Sharma a very fulfilling and successful tenure.

I also thank all the many well wishers and supporters for their constant support and good advice. I especially thank my family and my fellow Naga community  elders and leaders for the wisdom and advice shared with me during my tenure.

I am also very grateful to the Madhya Police Department  and Government of Madhya Pradesh and the Chhattisgarh Police department and Government of Chhattisgarh for the immense support and co-operation extended to me during my service there. I express gratitude to all the Senior officers and colleagues and subordinates for the immense support,  guidance, and encouragement given to me throughout my career.

As an IPS officer, I demit office with the belief that I have had a successful tenure as my service record will show. I have served for about 18 years in Bastar Range and Surguja Range in Chhattisgarh, which were the most affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in Central India. By God’s grace and mercy  I have survived many attempts on my life during my stint there. I thank Almighty God for having saved me from all dangers. I thank God Almighty for His grace and mercy for having blessed me with a successful career as an IPS Officer.

Last but not least, I thank my wife and my children for having stood by my side under all circumstances. They were, and remain, the bedrock of my life.

God Bless. Kuknalim. Jai Hind.

T.John. Longkumer  IPS

Director General of Police

Government of Nagaland.
