Devon Murray sued by former agent for £230,000

Devon Murray, who played the character of an Irish student in the Harry Potter series, is being sued by his former agent for 230,000 pounds in commission fees, it has emerged.
Murray, 27, who played Seamus Finnigan in the kids’ film, is being sued by Neil Brooks, trading as Neil Brooks Management, Cape Town, South Africa.
Brooks claims the money is made up of agreed fees and interest which was never paid, reports the Irish Mirror.
Murray’s parents, Michael and Fidelma Murray, are also being sued as their son was a minor when he entered the contract with Brooks in 1998.But the Murrays are counter-suing the agent for the return of 79,000 pounds they say they paid Brooks – whose legal team reckon the actor made just under 1 million pounds from the Potter movies.
The case came before Dublin’s High Court yesterday when the Murrays’ solicitor applied and was granted permission to stop representing them.
The law firm said they had not received proper instructions or funds for junior and senior counsel since taking on the case.
In his action, Brooks says he was appointed sole agent for Devon in October 1998 under an agreement in which he became entitled to commissions of 12.5 per cent for his film and TV earnings, 15 per cent from TV commercials and 7 per cent from theatre work. Brooks says he successfully negotiated for Devon’s role in Harry Potter 1 and 2.
