Destitute women receive welfare grants

Dimapur, June 28 (EMN): Lotha women organisation, the Eloe Hoho today distributed welfare grants to destitute women in Wokha at the Eloe Hoho’s office. The beneficiaries included widows, divorcees or separated women.

The financial assistance is funded by the department of Women Resource Development.
During the handover of cash to 258 registered beneficiaries at Wokha,
Women Resource Development officer in-charge of Wokha, Nzanthung K Yanthan, informed that the monthly allotment was Rs. 200. To prevent hassles, the department was dispatching it as a one-time payout yearly.
Further, as directed by the central government, all the beneficiaries were informed to open zero balance accounts for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
It was informed that the number of beneficiaries in Nagaland who are destitute women was at around 3,660 for the year 2016-2017.
Registration is done through the assistance of the department’s partners and Eloe Hoho after careful verification and records.
