Deputy Speaker of MLA files nomination

Imphal, Feb. 4 (EMN): Deputy Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate, K Robindro Singh filed his nomination papers from Mayang-Imphal Assembly Constituency under Imphal West district on Friday.

Two rival candidates from Thangmeiband seat in Imphal, Janata Dal (U) candidate Kh Joykisan Singh, a sitting MLA and BJP candidate Jotin Waikhom also filed their nominations on the fourth day of filing of the nominations.

Interestingly, ex-minister Karam Shyam, who had filed his nomination from 20-Langthabal Assembly Constituency, yesterday, filed his nomination again on Friday.

Altogether, nine candidates have filed their nomination till Friday, the fourth day of nomination, which includes four candidates of the BJP, three from the National People’s Party and two candidates from the JD (U).

On Thursday, speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh of the BJP (Singjamei) along with six others filed their nomination papers from their respective Assembly Constituencies. The others include BJP candidate and ex-minister, Karam Shyam (Langthabal), NPP candidates Konthoujam Sharat Singh (Konthoujam), Khuraijam Loken Singh (Wangoi), Ayangbam Oken Singh (Sekmai), LM Khaute (Churachandpur) and Manga Vaiphei (Henglep). JD (U) candidate, Kh Devendro Singh (Sekmai) also filed his nominations.
