Department of Taxes hold felicitation programme for Advisor Kudecho Khamo

KOHIMA — The department of Taxes held a felicitation programme for Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo at Commissioner of State Taxes Training Hall, Dimapur on Monday.

Khamo, in his address, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for reposing faith in him; while he hailed the Taxes department for rendering their service with utmost sincerity and dedication over the years.

“Tax is a new thing for many people in the state, for which there may be challenges while implementing the taxes laws,” he said.

Khamo stressed on the need to create awareness that tax is a must for all-round development and every citizen has a responsibility to contribute in as much as they avail the privileges made available for them.

The advisor said the department of the Taxes, though considered as one of the smallest departments, stands as the main backbone of the state government, adding that besides all round development programmes, thousands of employees get their salaries out of the taxes collected by the department.

Further, he appealed for full cooperation and dedication from all the officers and staff of the department, while he invited new ideas and valuable suggestions from all quarters to work together as a team.

Earlier, welcome and introductory speech was given by Gregory Thejawelie, commissioner of Taxes; the programme was led by Y Mhathung Murry, Spl. Commissioner of State Taxes, and vote of thanks was proposed by Wochamo Odyuo, additional commissioner of state taxes.
