Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF), an organisation working for the welfare of citizens in Dimapur irrespective of tribes and communities, has sought the intervention of the Nagaland chief secretary on border disputes for lasting peace.

In a representation to the state chief secretary, DDCF stated that since the creation of Dimapur as the 8th district of Nagaland in December 1997, no definite boundary demarcation has been done till date. The forum apprised that due to non-demarcation of boundary, there have often been disputes between villages from the neighbouring district like Peren and Dimapur which resulted even in the loss of lives and properties.

The representation appended by its president, Yibemo Kikon, and the general secretary, Richard Haolai, also stated that there have incidents of boundary dispute of Dimapur district with the neighbouring districts of Assam in the past years due to absence of proper definition or demarcation of the geographical areas.

In the light of the above stated circumstances, the forum urged the state chief secretary to look into the matter with extra efforts for a lasting peace.
