DIMAPUR — The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) has lauded the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the police for their timely action in rescuing a kidnapped Kohima businessman from Dimapur.

However, in a press release, it maintained that it is questionable why the identities of the kidnappers were kept concealed, unlike in other cases in the past.

The DDCF stated that it is unfortunate that Dimapur, the commercial hub, is infected with the virus of kidnapping, abduction, detention, and taxation in various forms, and that ‘this virus needs proper treatment’ by the concerned authorities for the sake of the district in particular and the state in general.

The forum also questioned why some members of Naga political groups are often in the spotlight for issues that have nothing to do with the Naga national movement and why, when there are state law enforcement agencies, people approach the NPG for petty issues.

“The state law-enforcing agencies also need to ponder why they are often ignored for settlement of various issues,” it asked, wondering if ‘such issues cropped out of illegal transactions’.

With the onset of the festive season, the DDCF appealed to all to make Dimapur a safe and peaceful place for citizens and visitors.
