Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has totally opposed to the two resolutions adopted by the Nagaland Timber Traders’ Union (NTTU) to impose economic blockade on Peren district and not to allow business establishments run by citizens of Peren to operate in Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts.
While drawing attention to news reports of NTTU, which was published in some local dailies on April 27, the DCCI vice president, V Shikuto Achumi, stated that NTTU had not consulted either DCCI or Chümoukedima Chamber of Commerce with regard to imposition of economic blockade.
While assuring to protect the interest of all its members, DCCI has reiterated its commitment to ensure normal economic activities in Dimapur and not allow such aberration to affect business in any manner.
Meanwhile, DCCI has extended full support and solidarity to NTTU in their fight for justice and right to pursue their businesses without undue interference from any quarter. It stated that DCCI has all along understood and sympathised with the timber traders and tree farmers, who are trying to make a decent living despite facing multiple hurdles and hardships including illegal taxation imposed by various groups and agencies.
