DC Zunheboto restricts inter-polling station movement of vehicles
DIMAPUR — In pursuance to the letter of State Election Commission (SEC) dated June 15, the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, has issued an order restricting inter-polling station movement of private vehicles in the district on the polling day to urban local body election on June 26 from 7 am to 4 pm.
The order stated that candidates would be entitled to use two vehicles only with effective from June 24 to the 26th. In this regard, candidates are directed to get a written permission order from the office of the deputy commissioner and district election officer, Zunheboto, and through the respective returning officer.
It stated that the restriction would apply to all vehicles except those vehicles requisitioned for election duty such as district administration, police, polling personnel on election duty, medical department and departments exempted by State Election Commission and vehicles for medical exigencies and other emergencies.
It further cautioned that strict action would be initiated against the defaulters and be booked under relevant sections of the Representation of People’s Act 1951 and Nagaland Municipal Act 2023.
