DIMAPUR — Iterating the commitment of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from India by 2025, the deputy commissioner (DC) of Longleng, Dharam Raj, has called upon the public in the district to extend cooperation and support in carrying out the strategic plan to eliminate TB.
The DC stated this during the meeting of Longleng District TB Forum held in his office’s conference hall on May 24. Stating that it was a stigma to talk about TB in the past, he has welcome discussion on anything relating to TB.
Stressing on the Prime Minister’s commitment to eliminate TB from India by 2025, he has appealed to all the participants to come forward and to extend their cooperation and support in carrying out the strategic plan to eliminate TB.
Delivering the keynote address, the district TB officer, Dr. Temsusashi, explained about the objective of District TB Forum besides sharing the vision of making Longleng district TB-free by 2025 along with the rest of the country.
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO) of Longleng stated that Tongang (STS) and Meriden Khuvung, TB-HIV coordinator, explained about the programme activities in the district and different incentives available under the programme.

A TB champion, Imtichuba, also shared his testimony about his TB treatment and expressed gratitude to the department in their effort towards eradicating TB from the country.
It was followed with a group discussion about TB among the participants and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Henmei Phom, TB health visitor (NTEP), Longleng.
