DC Kohima says hoisting of Indian national flag purely voluntary
Appeal made to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign
Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): The deputy commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, has clarified that “the purchase and hoisting of the National Flag of India is purely voluntary and not mandatory”.
In a notice issued on Saturday, the DC stated that there has been some misinformation spreading in certain sections of the population in and around Kohima district regarding distribution of National Flag of India, claiming that directions have been given for mandatory hoisting of the Tricolour in individual households, shops, etc. in view of the government of India’s “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign.
While clarifying that the purchase and hoisting of the national flag is voluntary, the notice stated that an appeal has been made to all citizens to participate in the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign for its successful implementation.
The DC went on to inform ‘all concerned that any further clarification in this regard may be sought from his office in Kohima’.
