Curtain raiser events of Manipur Sangai Festival held

Imphal, Nov. 15 (EMN): Two curtain raiser events of the upcoming Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 — annual tourism promotion festival — were organised at western gate of Kangla in Imphal and Mao gate in Senapati district on Tuesday.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and council of ministers attended the Imphal event while Health minister Dr. S Ranjan Singh and Public health and engineering department minister L Susindro attended the Mao gate event.
Manipur Sangai Festival, 2022 which is the most happening festival of Manipur will begin on Nov. 21 till the 30th. This year’s theme is ‘Festival of Oneness.’
Speaking on the occasion, Biren Singh, said that the festival will be a grand event and will be organised in around 13 venues across the state.
Further, stating that the main venue for the festival will be at Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou, the Chief Minister said that the park is open for the public to visit where permanent structures are being constructed so that the festival may be organised there every year.
The Chief Minister also said that various events will be included in this year’s edition of the festival including indigenous Sagol Kangjei inside the Kangla Kangjeibung. The festival will also have an Arambai throwing event, he said.
Biren Singh appealed to the people to show ones best behaviours as the festival will witness many tourists visiting the state. He urged all to showcase and highlight Manipur culture, civilization, decency, discipline, etc.
The release of Manipur Sangai Festival, 2022 theme song and balloons marked the opening of the curtain raiser event.
Rhythms of Manipur and other dance teams also presented their dancing drummer performances, etc. Biren Singh flagged off the Sangai Run.
Renowned film actress of the State Soma Laishram was declared festival ambassador. Other well-known personalities from different fields including former national and world champion boxer Laishram Sarita, actors Gurumayum Bonny, RK Somorendro (Kaiku), Hijam Bala, Ningombam Biju and Designer Robert Naorem among others also attended the event.
The Chief Minister also launched the online lottery for distribution of Sangai Festival stalls.
