Dimapur, Jan. 8 (EMN): The 52nd meet of the Chizami Sports Association (CSA) kicked off on January 7, on the theme ‘One team, one dream,’ with former Rajya Sabha MP and NDPP advisor, KG Kenye, as the inaugural guest of the inaugural session.

The inaugural guest in his address emphasised on the importance of sports, which have become the most popular human activity in the 21st century and encouraged the players to be resilient, committed, disciplined and to exhibit their outmost skills and abilities.

“Games and sports are positive, unlike wars, and thus create a sense of healthy competition amongst teams and nations, which will only get better with the passage of time,” Kenye said.

Regrettably, the governments in the past have failed to recognise the importance of sports and thus the dismal infrastructure and performances all these years, he said, while adding that the present state government is doing its outmost to promote sports across the state.

Earlier, CSA vice president, Wedete Tsuhah, delivered the welcome address.

Five young and upcoming sportspersons from Chizami were felicitated by CSA for their achievements and participation in the Nagaland Olympics, Naga Wrestling Meet, North East Olympics and Hornbill Half Marathon 2022. On day one, Ladelekhro khel led the medal tally with eight gold, one silver and five bronze, followed by Pfutshe khel with four gold and three silver medals, while Pfutshepa came third with three gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
