CS urges NCS officers to take pride in their work
DIMAPUR — As public look up to the Nagaland Civil Service (NCS) officers for leadership, respect and appreciate them for their honesty, integrity and follow their orders, Nagaland Chief Secretary, Dr. J Alam, on Tuesday called upon them to set good example and take pride in their work.
Dr. Alam stated this during the inaugural function of a mid-career training for NCS officers at Training Block of ATI in Kohima. As the programme was the first of its kind after the entry level training, he expressed confidence that it would help them develop new perspectives to look at things in a new systematic way as well as opened the mind to gain insights to solution.
Expounding on the fundamental role of NCS officers, he reminded that civil service is not to earn money but to serve the people. He, therefore, advised them to be proactive and innovative, which could come from oneself or from the people through interactions, and use for the administrative purposes.
Highlighting the importance of secretarial work in helping the government to take decisions for the public service, welfare of the people, law and order and safety of the people, he stated that if those skills are developed in the middle level, then it would help senior level officers to actually take decisions by themselves and also helped their subordinates and juniors in presenting their matters in files properly.
Being the backbone of the governance system, Dr. Alam said the government has a lot of hope on the NCS officers and called upon them to give their best in whatever capacity they work. He also encouraged them to document the good works done as well as success stories in their place of posting so as to be recognise by the state government.
The deputy secretary and course coordinator, Asalie Lese, highlighted a brief overview of the training. He informed that 28 NCS officers in the rank of ADC, deputy secretaries, ADC, SDO and EAC along with 16 resource persons are attaining in the 7-day training.
The secretary of P&AR department and director of ATI, Akunu S Meyase, chaired the programme and also delivered the welcomed address.
