Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam, has underscored the need for convergence of different departments and ensured successful implementation of all the projects in the state to uplift the living conditions of the people.

Alam stated this during the review meeting of the High Power Committee (HPC) of Nagaland Forest Management Project Society on Japan International Cooperation Agency (NFMPS-JICA) held at the Chief Secretary’s conference hall in Kohima on March 29. J Alam, who is also the chairman of NFMPS-JICA stated that JICA is an important project for the state of Nagaland and expressed happiness to note that the project is being implemented satisfactorily in the State.

Stating that the main objective of the project was to improve forest ecosystem and support income generation by rehabilitation of Jhum areas and provision of livelihood support, Alam encouraged the team to have a portal where all collected data could be uploaded so that they could be analysed without delay.

He has also recommended a concrete strategy on convergence to be at place. The chief secretary, in his concluding remarks, stated that good suggestions and decisions were made in the meeting and opined that the HPC would meet more often to review the progress of the project.

A DIPR report stated the annual work plan (FY 2022-23) was presented during the meeting. The HPC also reviewed the last meeting minutes and discussed various agenda pertaining to convergence and implementation of the project.
