CRPF undertakes civic action programmes

Dimapur, Jan. 7 (EMN): The 173 battalion CRPF conducted a series of civic action programmes in Chümoukedima and Phaipijang villages on January 5. Under the programme, the unit had renovated a conference hall at Government Primary School and also constructed a girl’s toilet at Government High School in Chümoukedima village. Besides, the unit also constructed a toilet and urinal block (boys and girls) at Government Middle School in Phaipijang village.

Speaking in both the inaugural programmes, Syamchand De, DIG (Ops) CRPF Kohima, elaborated on the various activities being carried out by CRPF under civic action to meet the immediate necessary requirements of the local populace. He also motivated the students to work hard towards achieving their goals. He also assured the CRPF’s assistance even in the days to come.

Also speaking on the occasion, Vishnu Gautam, Commandant 173 Bn CRPF, stated that civic action Programme is an initiative of government of India to act as a bridge between the security forces and the local people and outlined the various civic action related programmes that the unit had already undertaken in both Dimapur and Mokokchung districts of Nagaland.

An update from the battalion stated that local leaders, village elders, and school authorities have expressed their gratitude to CRPF for providing the basic requirements.

The programmes were conducted in the presence of village council authorities, local prominent people, media fraternity, villagers and school children.

In a separate programme, the 78 battalion CRPF organised civic action programme in Rusoma village under Kohima district on January 7. The programme was organized with an aim to bridge the gap between the public and security forces.

Taking note of the problems of electricity in the said village, the battalion has distributed solar street lights.

The programme was attended by Syam Chand De, DIG (OPS), CRPF, Kohima, as chief guest. WR Josuah, Commandant of 78 Bn, CRPF, officers and men of 78 battalion, village council members and villagers attended the programme.
