Covid vaccination for 15-18 years launched in Dimapur

Dimapur, Jan. 3 (EMN): Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, officially launched the Covid-19 vaccination drive in Nagaland for the 15 to 18 age group at District Hospital Dimapur on Monday.
Speaking at the formal launching programme, Phom said that Nagaland has received 1,43,000 doses of vaccines, while expressed gratitude to the Government of India.
The Health minister stated that the vaccines would be distributed to all the districts of Nagaland, while appealing to all the eligible registered beneficiaries to come forward and avail the vaccination.
He also urged the health workers as well as people to encourage eligible people in the bracket to get vaccinated.
He added that even though Nagaland still has no cases of Omicron, ‘it is spreading in the country and they have to be prepared and vaccinated on time’.
Phom also lauded the health workers in Dimapur district for exceeding the targeted coverage of vaccinations for people of 18 years and above.
Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, Dr. I Moatemjen said that despite ‘rumours and fake news’, Dimapur has achieved 126% coverage of first dose of vaccination for the age group of 18 and above and 96% coverage for the second dose.
The CMO stated that even though vaccinated persons could also get infected by Covid-19, their cases would not be severe.
He added that 20,480 doses out of the 1,43,000 doses have been allocated to Dimapur.
The vaccine for the age bracket of 15 to 18 would be of Bharat BioTech’s Covaxin and the second dose would be administrated 28 days after the first dose. He added that school ID cards would be required to get vaccinated.
