Cooperate with the Covid vaccination programme — La Ganesan

Imphal, Jan. 29 (EMN): Manipur Governor La Ganesan urged religious leaders in the state to co-operate with the Government’s initiative for Covid vaccination programme.
Ganesan was speaking at an interaction programme of different religious leaders at Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Saturday.
Stating that Covid pandemic has been a challenge not only in Manipur but to the whole world, he said vaccination and following the Covid appropriate behaviors were the means available to fight the pandemic.
Expressing concern over the low coverage of Covid vaccination mostly in the hill districts, he said at this critical juncture, all stakeholders including various religious and local leaders have to play a major role in reaching out to the people about the benefits of Covid vaccination.
He said that people respect religious leaders and in view of such importance, religious leaders should encourage people to come out for vaccination. He appealed to the people to come out and vaccinate at the facilities provided for the purpose throughout the state.
Participating at the interaction programme, Mission Director Dr. N Shyamjai of National Health Mission, Manipur said almost all the health facilities have been provided vaccines and mobile vaccination teams have been pressed into service in the far flung areas of hill districts in order to enable people to vaccinate themselves.
Around 63,000 people having comorbidities have been identified and the precautionary dose should be administered to them to fight the Covid pandemic, he added.
President Moulana Sayeed Ahmad of Jamiat-ul-Ulama, Manipur, and General Secretary Losii Mao of Manipur Baptist Convention also spoke about the importance of cooperation to the vaccination programme and assured that they would encourage people to achieve the vaccination programme in Manipur.
