Construction of parking lot-cum shopping complex underway at New Market

Dimapur, June 12 (EMN): Traffic and parking congestion has become a matter of grave concern in Dimapur especially in market areas such as Nyamo Lotha road where half of the lane is reserved for parking on both sides of the road.

To ease this congestion, the Urban Development department has devised a plan to construct a parking lot at New Market in Dimapur.

An official from the department of Urban Development informed Eastern Mirror that at the moment, the construction is in progress and the building is being built with a parking lot-cum shopping complex.

The official informed that the complex would be a three-story building where the ground and first floor would be set aside for parking while the second and top floor would be for commercial establishments.

He added that the parking capacity would be roughly around 80 vehicles — 50 vehicles on the ground floor and 30 on the first floor. However, he said that the exact number of vehicle parking spaces can be made only after its completion.

The official informed that after the completion of the building construction, it would be handed over to the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), who would manage the building.

He added that their plan is to complete the project by December this year.
