Colleges welcome new batch of students

Dimapur, July 14 (EMN)
KROS College: KROS College, Leirie, Kohima celebrated its 7th Fresher’s Day on July 14, with Kuholi Chishi, Director of Higher Education as invitee.
Addressing the gathering, Chishi stressed on three important aspects: to aspire, acquire and inspire towards becoming successful human beings. She advised the students to stay focused on their academic performances and at the same time discover themselves with various skill development programmes offered by the College.
Principal KROS College, Imsuinla Imti, highlighted the activities and programme of the College.
Earlier in the programme, Mimi Suohu, chaplain invoked God’s blessing while student representative, Hangchio Shio gave the welcome note and 5th Semester welcome the fresher with the song, “One in Love”.
Other highlights of the programme included, musical play ‘Take me to the Cross’ was presented by KROS Fellowship, quartet song titled, ‘New Jerusalem,’ song, ‘Go the distanc’ by Solo Inter-Collegiate Gospel Beat Contest, 2017 Thoidambo Nring.

Modern College: Modern College, Kohima observed its 20th Annual Freshers’ Social at the College Auditorium with Kario Issac Maheo, winner of India’s first MMA SFL challenger, Captain of Goa Pirates SFL & first MMA instructor to NSG.
The programme started with an invocation from Aboli Sumi, while Managing Director, Pelee Hekha, introduced the special guest and welcome speech was delivered by S. Mopa Lanphong, general secretary, MCSU.
Speech on behalf the freshers was delivered by Komuni of Class 11 Arts, where she expressed gratitude to seniors for organising the programme.
Principal of the college, Dr. H.P. Singh exhorted the student on the importance and need of becoming skilled and responsible members of the society. He emphasised on valuable role to play in building the nation while also highlighting the challenges of the educational system inherited from the colonial power.
Kario Issac Maheo while sharing his own journey in life encouraged the students to be steadfast and be committed in fighting one’s own battle to achieve ones dream.
Imnakumba Changkiri of Class 11 Art and Bendangmenla Aier of Class 11 Science were declared as Mr and Miss Freshers MCK 2017 by Dr. Rukulu Kezo.

PGC: Pfutsero Government College held its 35th Fresher’s Day on July 14 under the theme “Putting knowledge into action” with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pfutsero, Zeneikhonuo Vimeru.
In her address, she encouraged the student to follow the right company and maintain a healthy environment as this habit will help them in future career. She also advised the students to be hard working, keeping their priority by giving importance to the career one chooses and aim to become in future.
Principal Dr. Moanochet Longchar, exhorted the student to maintain amicable relationship with one another have the zeal to study at the same time take part in co-curricular activities. He also announced about the poor students’ fund to be funded by the teaching faculty of the college for the aspiring student from poor economic background.
Vice president of PGCSU, Weru Mero welcomed the gathring while Kudie Krome spoke on behalf of the Fresher.
Zewekhro Tsuha and Khroto-u Kapfo were crowned as Mr and Miss Fresher’s 2017 and Dikehro Kapfo and Wetso-u Mero as runner up.
