Dimapur, Aug. 7 (EMN): Model Christian College (MCC) celebrates its 14th annual fresher’s meet on August 6 at the college auditorium on the theme ‘Iridescence.’
Speaking on the topic ‘Chase your dreams,’ the college principal, Dr. Luke Rymbai, stressed that one should chase one’s dreams with determined action rather than merely following the rut. He encouraged students to have alternatives while chasing their dreams, stated an update from the college.
He also suggested few steps towards achieving dreams and also highlighted the life story of Ann Davis and his ten points ‘Major mistakes people make when chasing dreams.’ He further reiterated that the initial step towards achieving dreams is to read, read and read.
During the event, Shembo from Political Science department and Karini from English department were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher of Model Christian College 2022 respectively. The subtitle awards for best walk were awarded to Bokivi and Surenbeni, Mister and Miss Congeniality to Vielhoutso and Vudeni, and Mister and Miss Talented to Vielhoutso and Karini respectively.
In a related programme, Fazl Ali College in Mokokchung organised its fresher’s day on August 6 at the college auditorium.
An update from the college stated that the first session began with singing of the college anthem followed with an invocation said by Wemei, EU president. The College’s principal, Dr. I Wati Imchen, delivered the welcome address, while Moalilia, student of BA 5th semester, presented a solo.
The second session was marked with crowning of Mr and Miss Fresher 2022. It stated that Mizaba Kichu, BA (English), and Moarenla, BA (History), were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2022 respectively. The best runway, Mr and Miss Popular, Mr and Miss Congeniality and best couple were also awarded.
In another programme, Modern College celebrated its fresher’s day on August 6 with Pelee Hekha, managing director of Modern College, as the guest of honour.
The event was led by Emjungwapang Amer and Soreiphi Jajo from BA 3rd semester, while the invocation was said by Moarenla Jamir, EU president, and the welcome address was delivered by Leiwang Konyak, MCSU general secretary.
Livitoli Swu, MCSU social and cultural secretary, exhorted the members and concluded with a benediction said by L Angam Konyak, EU prayer secretary.
Report stated that Chemjungli S Sangtam and Thsiijujirho Nyuwi were crowned
Mr and Miss Fresher of Modern College 2022 respectively.
Meanwhile, Kohima College also celebrated its 53rd fresher’s day on August 6 with Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, chairman of Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB), as the special guest.
During the programme, student toppers both at the university and college levels were felicitated with various awards such as Alumni Association University Topper Award, IQAC’s Scholar’s Badge Award, Tenyidie Department Topper Award and the History Department Meritorious Award.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yhome pointed out that right from the start various bulwarks stood against Nagaland’s progress as the society transitioned to modernity. He added that those redundant values still continue to ‘form our attitudes, augmented our fears, reinforced our prejudices and formulated our system of thought.’
He concluded by encouraging the students to willingly take challenges.
The programme concluded with the crowning of Mr and Miss Fresher.
In a similar programme, Aghünaqa Area Students’ Union (AASU) held a frsher’s meet-cum-felicitation programme at Town Hall, Dimapur, on the theme “Aspiration to learn and progress.”
An update from the union stated that Zakabo Rotokha, managing director of NHHDC, and Imlijungla Lemtur, EAC of Aghünaqa, grace the programme as special guest and the theme speaker respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Rotokha, encouraged the students to look beyond government job and focus more on entrepreneurship to be self-reliant, while
Imlijungla encouraged the students to keep on learning in every field saying it is a never ending process.
Vitoka H Yeptho and Mercy Yepthomi were crowned Mr and Miss fresher on the occasion.
