Dimapur, Jan. 6 (EMN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has appealed to Union Home minister Amit Shah to fulfill the BJP party’s slogan ‘Election for solution’ made during the 2018 state assembly election.

The CNTC, in a representation to the Union Home minister dated January 5, said that the people of Nagaland had participated in the 2018 assembly election heeding the call of the National BJP’s slogan.

However, in spite of the tenure of the present 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly coming to an end, it said “no logical conclusion” has come about though the Naga people were made to understand that the “formal talks” between the Centre and various Naga political groups have concluded on October 31, 2019.

The representation also stated that the CNTC, comprising Ao, Lotha and Sumi tribes, appreciate the sincerity and relentless efforts of the negotiating parties for a sincere dialogue and efforts to bring a permanent solution for the Naga people.

“And, therefore CNTC is eagerly waiting for a direction from Government of India for a permanent solution,” it stated.

While appealing to Shah to fulfill the BJP’s 2018 election commitment, the representation said “unless the Naga Political solution is announced the CNTC may abstain from participating in the coming election, in the interest of Naga Political solution”.

It further stated that the three major tribes of Nagaland under the banner of CNTC are ready to welcome the Naga political solution instead of election which, “will be in the interest of both the Government of India and Naga general public.”
