Dimapur, Jan. 26: Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) directed all GBs/ chairmen and councils of different colonies and wards to immediately stop candidates of any political party for canvassing or any other electioneering activities in their respective jurisdiction.

CNTC also asked all candidates, irrespective of political party they belonged, to immediately stop harbouring youth from outside their localities for electioneering purposes and to stop displaying the party flags or ferry youth in vehicles around the towns and localities.

CNTC issued these directives to all the concerned and stakeholders as a fall out of repeated appeals and the subsequent rigid stand of the government for deferment of the ULB elections.
In this regard, all the public of every colony and wards to co-operate and be present physically for volunteering during the enforcement of the State-wide bandh called by the JCC in case the State cabinet fails to listen to the wishes of the people.

Meanwhile, CNTC has accused the State government under TR Zeliang and NPF president Shurhozelie together with their legislators and JACWR for the present turmoil. If any loss of lives or any untoward incident happen during the bandh, the above mentioned persons and their cronies together with the state machineries will be held completely responsible, CNTC through its Media Cell cautioned.

Despite nil nominations in several districts across the State and the state capital itself, CNTC accused the party in power together with JACWR of forcibly imposing the ULB elections against the wishes of the people. CNTC further blamed JACWR of taking the whole name of the Naga women and mothers to a point of ‘bloody confrontation’ when mothers and women need to play a vital role of mediators at this crucial juncture.
