Dimapur, April 16 (EMN): Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) has announced to hold its 4th general conference on April 18 and 19 at Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile in Dimapur on the theme ‘Beyond boundaries.’
This was announced during a press conference by the CNSA president, Himato Yeptho, held at Agri Expo, Dimapur, on April 16. Yeptho highlighted that CNSA was formed in 2010 with the nomenclature as SARK with the conglomeration of Sumi, Ao, Rengma and Kyong. He, however, stated that with the withdrawal of Rengma from the organization, the nomenclature of SARK was changed to CNSA.
Yeptho went on to say that CNSA is purely working for the welfare of the student community and added that during the CNSA 3rd general conference in 2018 in Wokha, they have decided to hold the 4th general conference in Dimapur.
Convener of the organising committee, S Zhevihe Sümi, informed that the general conference used to be hosted by the respective tribal unit. He, however, stated that CNSA has decided to hold its conference in Dimapur to let everyone know of their existence.
While highlighting the theme of the conference, Zhevihe stated that they have chosen ‘Beyond boundaries’ since boundaries were social markers and it reinforce division of the society based on tribe, class, gender and many other factors.
He added that one of the major challenges in the society has been to break the division and usher in a united society without conflicts.
He, therefore, stated that as a multi-linguistic dominated state, the objective of holding the conference this time was to focus on inclusiveness and also to reach out to other organisations so that at the end of the day they could understand the problem being faced by all of them.
Zhevihe also informed that the deputy chief minister and Home minister as well as in-charge of Road and Bridge, Y Patton, has consented to be the chief guest at the inaugural session, while MLA Imkong L Imchen, minister of Agriculture Kaito Aye and the minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs Temjen Imna Along have consented to be the special guests during the two-day conference.
During the press conference, CNSA co-convener, Y Likhao Humtsoe, stated that CNSA is purely for the welfare of the students. He added that CNSA was formed to strengthen the bond between All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), Ao Students’ Mungdang (AKM) and Lotha Students’ Union (LSU).
