The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) has expressed dismay over the silence of Nagaland government over the recent ban on sale of tobacco products by the Khango-led NSCN/GPRN(K).

In a press release, the CNCCI demanded the government to clarify if tobacco products are banned or legal substances, as GST is being collected from the sale of such items.

It said the government must let the people know if it has the authority to regulate such matters or is being delegated.

Pointing out that there are multiple overlapping orders and bans contrary to the orders of the state, it asked the government to tell the people whose authority and governance the Naga public should follow.

Meanwhile, the CNCCI lauded and conveyed its support to the ban on illegal drugs by the NSCN/GPRN(K) and prohibition of alcohol by the state government. It also asked the Khango-led group to delist tobacco products from the purview of ban.

It went on to say that the business community supports the early settlement of Indo-Naga political issue and request various NPGs to direct their energy and resources towards it. Dimapur, March 15 (EMN)
