Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): Chief Minister TR Zeliang has greeted the Zeliang community on the occasion of Chega-Gadi/Lamsimngyi/Kwakpo festival, one of the most important festivals of the community.
The chief minister issued a statement containing the greetings on Sunday. “Traditionally, though the date of the celebration often differed between communities and villages and was usually fixed according to their convenience, today it is celebrated from 30th-31st October every year.
“It is a festival of joy, love, forgiveness and rest and is celebrated to invoke God’s blessings on his people and to remind us of our rich cultural heritage and traditional values which are guiding principles rooted in honesty, respect, hard-work, courage and kindness. May these golden values practiced by our forefathers since time immemorial continue to be part of our way of daily-life,” it read.
He wished the Zeliang community ‘a happy and meaningful Chega Gadi/Lamsimngyi/Kwakpo celebration in the best of health and spirit.’
