CIHSR ‘College of Nursing’ celebrates 10th anniversary

Dimapur, Oct. 21(EMN): The College of Nursing at Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) celebrated its 10th anniversary on Thursday at L Noksangchila’s girl’s hostel on the theme “Excel in everything.”
The chief guest of the event and vice chancellor of North East Christian University (Necu), Dr. Darlando Khathing, in his speech, expressed his admiration for the nursing profession. He also complimented that nurses from the Northeast region are doing extremely well in different parts of the country.
He encouraged the nursing students to be aware of the technological advances and avail them for their benefit. He, further, encouraged them to keep in mind their purpose and values.
Dr. Vizolie Z Suokhrie, former principal director of Health and Family Welfare, lauded the college for setting a high quality standard. He shared that the anniversary celebration should be a time for reflection into the challenges they went through in the past 10 years.
Stating that quality nursing is vital in the society today, he encouraged them to continuously aspire to learn new things in order to provide better service.
Bharathy Jacob, the first principal of the college, also spoke on the occasion. While mentioning the vast objective of nursing, Jacob stated that the basic profession of nursing is to help the society.
The CIHSR director, Dr. Sedevi Angami, expressed confidence that the trained nurses from the college are contributing significantly in the state and in the region.
Speaking about the profession, he opined that nursing is an empowering profession for women and added that there is an increasing role for nurses in various fields. He further stressed on the need to improve nursing quality in the region.
