DIMAPUR — The general body meeting (GBM) of Churches Colony, Dimapur, held at the residence of the chairperson on May 19, adopted a three-point resolution.

In a press release, the Churches Colony Council informed that the GBM was attended by land owners and members of the community to discuss and deliberate on various important matters concerning the colony.

In the first resolution, the general body unanimously elected Imkongmeren Jamir as the new Gaon Bura (GB) of Churches Colony, following the demise of the incumbent GB. Jamir was elected to serve a five-year term.

The general body also addressed the need for a formal constitution to govern the colony. A constitution committee, previously appointed by the general body, presented a draft proposal for the by-laws and regulations to be followed within Churches Colony. After thorough examination and discussion, the general body approved and officially adopted the colony’s constitution on May 19.

Further, the meeting also unanimously resolved to name the by-lane connecting the old Reliance Petrol Pump to the main road inside the Colony as ‘Ghoshito Lane.’ This decision was made to honour the contributions and efforts of Late N Ghoshito Achumi (former GB of the colony), who had played a significant role in the development and well-being of Churches Colony.

“These resolutions, passed during the general body meeting, demonstrate the collaborative effort and collective decision-making process undertaken by the residents of Churches Colony, Dimapur to address important issues, establish leadership, and foster a sense of community identity and governance within the colony,” the release stated.
