Chungtia farmers sensitised on their rights

Dimapur, March 29 (EMN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mokokchung, has conducted a training cum awareness and sensitisation programme on “Protection of plant varieties and farmers rights” at Chungtia village community hall on March 28. The programme was sponsored by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Right Authority, New Delhi.
Delivering a keynote address, Bendangjungla, ACTO (genetics and plant breeding), emphasised on the need for conservation of traditional seeds crops and to take advantage of the training programme.
In the technical session, Dr. Toshimenla (genetics and plant breeding), disseminated the aims, objectives and characteristics of the act along with the procedure for registration of crop variety under PPV and FRA.
Altogether 112 participants attended the programme.
The programme was chaired by Moainla Longkumer, TO (KVK), while invocation was delivered by Rev. Laka, pastor of CBC and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Ruyosu Nakro, ACTO (EXT).
