DIMAPUR — The monthly district planning and development board (DPDB) meetings for Chümoukedima and Phek districts were held on November 11 and November 10, respectively.
The Chümoukedima meeting was chaired by Zhaleo Rio, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, while the Phek meeting was led by Z Nyusietho Nyuthe, Advisor for New and Renewable Energy and National Disaster Management Authority and DPDB chairman for Phek DPDB.
Chümoukedima: Held at DC conference hall, Zhaleo Rio, speaking on the occasion, said that it is the duty of all government servants to attend the meeting regularly and be more interactive, a DIPR report stated.
Taking note of the advisor’s comment, the deputy commissioner decided to cross-check the attendance records of all heads of offices and to take up the issue in the next DPDB meeting.
Rio informed that soon every department has to work out its respective action plan and work programmes for the coming fiscal year 2025-26.
He also appealed to the concerned department to make it a point to supply seeds, saplings and various plants at the right time to the farmers and villagers, taking note of the climatic conditions.
He further called upon the concerned officers that in the coming year, they should have an organised system of planning and implementation at the right time.
While reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the board recommended Shiheli Old Age Home, Ganeshnagar village, for registration based on the report submitted by the District Welfare Office, Chümoukedima.

On registration of the Two Wheeler Taxi Association, the board deliberated at length and highlighted the necessity for allocation of taxi permits specifically for Chümoukedima district.
Other agenda items discussed were society registration of Nagaland United Sports Club at Razaphe Basa, which the board decided to recommend for registration to the government, while registration of Yeknak Society, Thilixu village, was deferred to the next DPDB meeting. .
On the preservation of Chathe river, the chairman of Chümoukedima Town Council highlighted the need for urgent action, stating that the river is severely contaminated due to riverbed mining, excavation, waste dumping and road cutting.
Deliberating on this matter, DC mentioned that a consultative meeting will be held with concerned departments, CSOs and various stakeholders to work out modalities on how to tackle the issue.
While discussing the agenda on speed regulation on the national highway within Chümoukedima district, the board deliberated the urgent need for speed regulation and for installing speedcams along the highway to monitor speeding vehicles.
Discussing on the agenda of the project director of DRDA, Chümoukedima, the board decided to approach the higher authority for the establishment of a separate PD, DRDA for the district.
Further, the board decided to nominate one representative from Chakhroma Public Organisation as a co-opted member of Chümoukedima DPDB.
Later, a PowerPoint presentation was presented by DEO Chümoukedima on PM SHRI, where he highlighted the aims, objectives, funding, duration and criteria of the scheme.
Phek: Nyuthe, in his address, expressed gratitude to the government of Nagaland, the legislators of Phek district led by Minister of Power and Parliamentary Affairs KG Kenye, DPDB members, and leaders of the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) for supporting the upgrade of Meluri to a full-fledged district.
The meeting was held at the DPDB hall, Phek.
DC Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam, expressed his happiness at Meluri becoming a district and congratulated the people of Meluri and their representative. He also instructed all heads of district offices that official matters and activities for Meluri district will continue to be managed from the district offices at Phek headquarters until the necessary offices are established in Meluri.
The board also discussed and recommended agendas for the creation of a district child protection office, the establishment of a Sakhi one-stop centre, and the establishment of an observation home in the newly upgraded Meluri district.
The district statistical officer and the station superintendent of Nagaland State Transport, Phek, presented their departmental activities at the meeting.
