Chubatemjen wins first AAM angling competition

Chuchuyimpang (Mokokchung), July 28 (EMN): More than 100 enthusiastic anglers from neighboring Assam state and Districts of Wokha, Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung participated in first Anglers Association Mokokchung (AAM) Angling Competition held at Amoklushi Lake, Chuchuyimpang village, the biggest fresh water lake in Mokokchung District on Friday.
The event was organised by AAM in collaboration with the department of Fisheries, PHED Mokokchung Division and Village Council, Chuchuyimpang. The interesting part of the event was the ‘catch and release’ where Chubatemjen was declared the winner of the competition for catching the biggest fish 1.95 kg. He walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- plus certificate.

The second and third positions were awarded to Imlirenba (1.15 kg) and R. Lima (920 Grams). They walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- plus certificates.
The rest of the competitors who made it to the top 10 list were also awarded with angling gears along with certificates.
During the closing programme, chief guest Sushil Kumar Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung lauded the exemplary initiation taken by the organisers to release the fish they caught and said that small things come with bigger packages for the future.
Director of Fisheries, Kevisa Kense also announced that the department will be organising Angling around Nagaland at the end of this year. On behalf of the department, the director also gave away angling gears to AAM. Short speeches were also delivered by Imnazulu, Chairman Chuchuyimpang Village Council, Phukato Sumi, President, AAN & Nagaland AIGFA representative.
Meanwhile, AAM president Er.Toshikaba informed that the Association will be organising another Team Angling Competition at Amoklushi Lake on Saturday, July 29.

1st position: Chubatemjen-1.95 kg
2nd position: Imlirenba – 1.15 kg
3rd position: R. Lima – 920 Grams
4th position: Imtiwapang – 535 gram
5th position: Akumtemjen- 495 grams
6th position: Litengho- 360 grams
7th position: Anguminba -160 grams
8th position: Temsusoba- 160 grams
9th position: Sendongyanger- 100 grams
10th position: Arenla Sempo- 26 grams
