Mokokchung, August 4 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, S Chuba Longkumer, on August 3, paid a flying visit to his constituency and inaugurated three developmental projects simultaneously in two villages. The projects included inauguration of village gate in Longkong, up-gradation of Veterinary Sub-Centre to Veterinary Dispensary and inauguration of the newly constructed Government High School building in Phangsang village.
Speaking at the inauguration of the village gate in Longkong, the Parliamentary Secretary stated that the government has initiated numerous development activities for the welfare of the people. He, however, stressed that if the people don’t understand the objective of the development schemes, it will lead to poor implementation and failure of the government.
Longkumer expressed gratitude to the people for utilising the fund judiciously for constructing magnificent gate, which is the pride of the village.
Stating that Nagaland under the leadership of the chief minister, TR Zeliang, is marching forward toward a prosperous State, he said Naga people should lend their cooperation to the government.
In Phangsang village, the Parliamentary Secretary encouraged the public not to depend solely on the government but to earn through their toil and sweats which is ‘much sweeter than easy channels.’ He was speaking at the up-gradation programme of the Veterinary Dispensary and induction of a doctor in the new facility.
Longkumer further encouraged the people to give importance to the veterinary sector, which is one of the major players in the economic growth of a nation. He also advised the people to be cautious about the hazardous diseases spread by cattle. He further requested the villagers to avail services provided by the new facilities.
The programme was followed by the inauguration of the newly constructed Government High School, Phangsang.
