Residents of Chozuba village in Phek district celebrated ‘Citizens’ Day’ at Chozuba village ground on January 27 and 28. The event was organised by Chozubami Razuve Hoho.
An update from the hoho stated that the two-day mega event witnessed cultural display of folk dances, songs and games by various groups. About 3500 Chozubami residing within and outside village attended the programme.
It stated that the introductory service was attended by Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary of NBCC, as the main speaker. He spoke on knowing God and contented life in God.
The commissioner and secretary of Rural Development department, Neposo Thelüo, who was the special guest of the cultural day, encouraged the community to preserve their culture.
“We need to know taboo, shame and fear passed down from our ancestors. Village is the base of Naga society as we find our true identity. In Naga context, there’s is no culture without agriculture, so we need to enhance with culture,” Thelüo said.
