Children’s Day celebrated across Nagaland

DIMAPUR — Christ King Higher Secondary School (CKHSS), Kohima, celebrated Children’s Day on Tuesday along with the rest of the nation.

The celebration began with a prayer and Bible reading led by Sr. Theresa Rothangpuii, BS, vice principal of CKHSS, and included a group song performed by school staff as well as songs performed by students.

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. CM Joseph, reactor and parish priest of Christ King Church, Kohima village, emphasised the impact of childhood on shaping one’s character and maintained that ‘as the child is, so will the man or woman be’, underscoring the importance of instilling positive values and norms during the formative years that endure into old age.

MGM College:

The department of Education, MGM College, Dimapur, celebrated Children’s Day on November 14.

A press release stated that the purpose of the event was to emphasise how age is just a number, embrace the essence of childhood, and recognise the significance of the day.

During the celebration, Nimmi Varghese, head of the department, talked about the importance of cherishing the spirit of childhood, regardless of age, and encouraged everyone to embrace their inner child.

The celebration also included on-the-spot performances by students, in which they showcased their talents through songs and dances.

PVHSS: Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS), Dimapur, celebrated Children’s Day in its school auditorium.

According to a press release, the principal of the school, Monoj Bhattacharjee, speaking on the occasion, placed emphasis on the rights, education, and welfare of children.

RJHSS: Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School (RJHSS) also celebrated Children’s Day at its premises, with Neeta, a senior teacher, speaking on the occasion about the significance of the day.

The principal, HP Gupta, while delivering a speech, discussed Jawaharlal Nehru’s philosophy and his belief in the impact that children can have.

BES: Balijan English School (BES) celebrated Children’s Day and school annual day on November 14 in the school auditorium.

Speaking on the occasion, Rama Shankar Pandey, the school’s headmaster, underscored the importance of education and encouraged students to use their talents on the appropriate platform whenever possible.

Assam Rifles: The Assam Rifles celebrated Children’s Day at Langnok village, Noklak, by hosting events such as painting and quiz competitions, with the goal of inspiring and motivating future generations and fostering unity.

The day was also celebrated at the ZBCC Orphanage Home, Peren town, attended by 67 children and eight teachers.

According to a press release, the event celebrated Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s illustrious and inspiring life, as well as his significant contribution to children’s education. A badminton set was also gifted to the children on the occasion to help support games and recreational activities.

Essential commodities were distributed during the interactive session with the children.

It celebrated Children’s Day at Baptist High School, Monyakshu, Mon, by presenting stationery and sports items to school officials and distributing sweets to students.

A total of 130 students and 15 teachers took part in the event to commemorate the day with the security forces.

Furthermore, the Assam Rifles observed Children’s Day at schools in and around Chenloisho and educated students on the significance of the day. The events were attended by 579 students and 27 teachers.
