Guwahati, June 11, (EMN): Two swimming trainers of the Gauhati Town Club were interrogated by the Panbazar police in connection with the death of a 7 year old girl died at the Club’s swimming pool while undergoing training June 9 evening.
The coaches have been identified as Sangita Shah and Bikash Das.
The family members of the deceased complained the police that the incident took place due to irresponsibility of the trainers. Adding to this, there was lack of equipments at the Club to deal with such emergency situations.
Significantly tall claims of reformations in the health sector have proved futile as there was no supply of oxygen in the ambulance under 108 services in which the victim was taken to the MMC hospital, DY365 Bureau reports stated.
The child identified as Manashi is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Amingaon and a resident of Fatasil Ambari.
Around 20 trainees were undergoing training at the time of the incident at the pool. Manashi had joined the training in April this year.
“The maximum depth of the GTC swimming pool is 5 feet, but the incident took place at a spot where the depth is just 2.5 feet, said GTC officials.
