Dimapur, Feb. 3 (EMN): Nagaland chief secretary, J Alam, released the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) manuals and annual report (2020-21) during a programme at the chief secretary conference room in Kohima on February 2.
Speaking at the programme, Alam congratulated the entire NFMP team for their good works in implementation of the project activities and urged them to focus on publicity of various activities through media including social media, a DIPR report stated.
He remarked that new practices, technologies would be deployed in the project. He further assured that efforts would be given in regard to convergence with concerned departments and also lauded the team spirit of NFMP.
PCCF and HoFF, Dharmendra Prakash, chaired the programme and also gave a brief overview about the NFMP activities.
The project director (Imp, M&E),Vedpal Singh, highlighted the current status of the NFMP such as engagement of project management consultant (PMC), infrastructure strengthening, recruitment of PMU and DMU support staff, setting up of GIS and MIS lab, deployment of FNGO in all districts, microplan preparation, entry point activity and water harvesting structures, formation of SHG and establishment of nursery and plantation activities etc.
It stated that various issues including pre-financing of project, convergence, Nagaland livelihood forum, commitment charges, replication of NFMP success stories and team visit of the Himachal Pradesh were discussed during the programme.
Rashid, GIS expert, made a presentation about the various modules of the WebGIS portal as well as the mobile app platform, while Longshithung, MIS expert, presented about the working of the MIS portal capturing various data involved in the implementation of the project activities.
Jayesh Bhatia, PMC international expert, commented upon issues like capacity building, preparation of microplan, nursery and plantation activities at different stages of various batches in the villages. He pointed out that the pace of release of fund flows to villages needs to be augmented. He also discussed about convergence with allied departments and having a common platform for all externally aided projects like JICA, IFAD and KFW.
