DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 11
The Nagaland Medical Dealers Association has announced a 12-hour bandh, in which all pharmacies across the state will remain closed, from 6 am to 6 pm on October 14.
A press note from the NMDA on Sunday informed that the bandh has been called “in pursuance to the nationwide bandh” called by the All India Organization of Chemist and Druggist against the central government’s decision on E-marketing/online sale of medicines “by few entities which is completely against medical ethos and drug controlling norms.”
According to the statement, the bandh has been called to safeguard the interest of the medical fraternity as well as the public – to help avoid misuse of drugs by “unrestricted purchase through online system.” It also stated that the online purchase systems contradict the prevailing drug control norms in the state.
