Chakma Students Unions’ sports meet at Silchar

Dimapur, October 21: The Barak Valley Chakma Students’ Association (BVCSA) would be hosting their 1stAnnual Joint Sports Meet under the aegis of the All India Chakma Students’ Union (AICSU), which is the apex students body of the Chakma Students of India.
The venue of the event is Silchar in Assam from October 22 and till the 23rd. The teams are the Mizoram Chakma Students’ Union-Aizawl Zone, the Meghalaya Chakma Students’ Union, the Barak Valley Chakma Students’ Association, and the Guwahati Chakma Students’ Union. The sports event will be attended by Dr BD Chakma, a minister from Mizoram as the chief guest; the commandant officer of the 2nd MGAR, Assam Rifles of Silchar, Col Sanjiv Gajraj, and the general secretary of the All India Chakma Students’ Union, Jyoti Bikash Chakma, will be the guests of honour.
The games will include football, cricket and the athletics, a press release from the association informed.
“The main aim of the 1st Joint Sports Meet of the four major Chakma Students Unions of the North East India is to build a strong relationships between the Chakma Students of the region and to identify sporting talents which will be harnessed for professional sports in the future,” stated Dangu Arun Kumar Chakma, chairperson of the event and president of the BVCSA.
