CEO urges students to participate election in fair manner

As part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), V Shashank Shekhar, held an interactive session with the campus ambassadors of various government higher secondary schools and colleges of Nagaland at his office in Kohima on Wednesday.

Addressing the students, Shekhar encouraged the students to participate in the election in an ethical and fair manner. He also encouraged them to participate in the ongoing essay and video challenge organised by the CEO Office and also to inform fellow students about the challenge. He also stated that the young persons are intelligent and knowledgeable.

An update from CEO office stated that the students shared their opinions on the current scenarios and their wish to usher in peace and development. They also shared about voting based on merit and capability and not by force due to money and pressure.

Meanwhile, Shekhar has cast his vote through postal ballot at the DBs’ Court in the office of the deputy commissioner, Kohima, on Wednesday.

CEO expressed his happiness at being part of the election process. He expressed hope that everyone would come together and ensure that the elections are conducted in the true spirit of democracy.

Other officers who exercised their franchise on the day included additional CEO, Ruokuoviltuo Khezhie; joint secretary and OSD to CEO namely Hiazu Meru, and Razouvolie Dozo; joint CEO, Awa Lorin; and ACEO, R Toshimeren Aier.
