Chozuba, Jan.15 (EMN): The 7th Children’s Rally, organised by the Children and Education Department of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) was held in Chozuba from January 13 to the 15th on the theme “I belong to Jesus.” The event was hosted by the Chozuba Village Baptist Church.
Speaking about the event, president of Children’s Rally, Duta Ringa, said that around 3000 people including over 2400 registered delegates from 81 churches out of 103 under CBCC attended the three-day event.
The children’s rally, earlier known as children association, was first held in 1981 at Chozuba and is now held every five years. It is a mega event with the main aim to promote and sensitise on the importance of establishing Sunday Schools in local churches, Ringa said.
The event was aimed at transforming children to become upright and righteous citizens in the sight of God. The rally has a far-reaching impact positively in the lives of many children preparing themselves to grow in faith and love in the fear of the Lord, he observed.
Ringa further stated that thousands of testimonies came out after every children’s rally, which they would cherish for the rest of their lives.
Administrator of Resource Centre Holistic Ministry, Dr. Adela Mero, in her Sunday sermon on the topic ‘Abide in me,’ stated that one can know he/she abides in Christ by knowing Him in person and urged the children to stay connected to Jesus.
Stating that there are weak and strong Christians, Mero pointed out that many knew Jesus but most of them don’t have the “spirit” in them.
‘We have to accept Jesus as our Lord and personal savior. If you accept, the Holy Spirit will live in you’, she said and challenged them to abide in Christ so that they can bear fruits.
Other resource persons for the event were Chinehulu Rhakho, chaplain of Grace Girls’ Hostel, Diphupar B, Chümoukedima, and Vesakho Thisa, director of Children and Education Department, CBCC.
Children participated in various competitions like theme song, folk dance, pencil sketching, solo, duet, narration of Biblical stories, double quartet, guitar ensemble, and worship dance.
The executive secretary of CBCC, Rev. Khrotso Mero, in his greetings said, “We live in a world full of social unrest and uncertainties and called upon the children to fix their eyes on Jesus. He added that children are blessed beyond measures with different abilities and talents and urged them to use their gifts for God.”
Meanwhile, the youth secretary of CBCC and member of the Chakhesang Clean Election Movement, Muluvoyi Neinu, urged the children not to exercise their vote if they are below 18 years of age. He added that proxy voting is wrong and asked them not to sell their votes.
