Dimapur, Aug. 3 (EMN):
Two days after the members of the Village Defense Party (VDP) in Assam nabbed a Nagaland Police personnel at the Assam-Nagaland border for allegedly possessing narcotic substances, Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo said that the incident has been ‘hyped’ by the Assam media.

Tetseo told Eastern Mirror that the personnel, a constable from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), was neither on duty nor in uniform when caught by the VDP. He was reported to be in an inebriated condition and was found arguing with some people around, Tetseo said.

According to the Assam media report, the constable was detained by the Assam Police and six addictive tablets were seized from his possession.

However, the CP said only three addictive tablets were found and not as reported, while the matter was ‘hyped and alarmed by the media’. The IRB constable was released after interrogation the same day.
