Capt. N Kenguruse tournament: Lengreng, Maverick advance to quarterfinals

KOHIMA — Lengreng FC and Maverick FC advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday in the ongoing Capt. N Kenguruse, MVC Memorial Football Tournament at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

In the first match between Lengreng FC and Peace United FC, Lengreng FC emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.

Peace United’s DS Nakro gave his team the lead in the 27th minute. However, Lengreng FC responded quickly, with Ngansang equalising in the 32nd minute, before Kawijibo scored again in the 40th minute to seal the comeback victory.

Lengreng FC, in the quarterfinals, will face off against Dynamo FC.

In the second match, Maverick FC dominated St. Xavier College with a 12-0 victory. The standout player was Kevisanyu, who scored an impressive five goals in the 22nd, 36th, 56th, 67th, and 76th minutes of the match.

Longkhoi also netted three goals, scoring in the 25th, 42nd, and 79th minutes, while Kekhrieletuo added two goals in the 28th and 62nd minutes. David and Manton each contributed one goal.

Maverick FC will meet Halcyon United in the quarterfinals.

Second match: Mez & Co FC (Kohima) vs. Velocity Vipers FC (Mon) (2:00 pm) (Quarterfinal)
