CAN Youth launches SPATIAL project at Thahekhu

Dimapur, August 5 (EMN): CAN Youth has launched its project SPATIAL (Students, Parents And Teachers Involvement In Authentic Learning)- a life skill programme for government schools and supported by Godrej Salon-I- at Government High School (GHS) Thahekhu on Saturday with Assistant Commissioner of Dimapur, Rahul Mali, as the special guest.
Launching the project, Mali reminded the student community about the limitation of employment in the State as the job opportunity in the government sectors have reached a saturation point. He persuaded the student community to focus on constructive areas especially through project SPATIAL which aims at achieving authentic learning.
The bureaucrat assured the student community of all possible help from the district administration on condition of positive response from them.
CAN Youth chief functionary, Jenpu Rongmei, expounded on the significance of project SPATIAL and stated that the areas of intervention of the project are located in Dimapur district.
He said the project came about after thorough research, interaction and meeting with students in order to prevent dropout from school or colleges and to encourage students to discover the inner beauty of education and to make the relationship stronger between the students, teachers and parents/community.
Stating that ‘government schools have the maximum dropouts not because of financial issues but because of disconnection among the teachers, students and parents,’ Rongmei sought support for the project so that the students have efficient and better learning relationship with teachers and parents/community to build smart education and smart society.
Through SPATIAL project, it expected better performance and better result, behavioural changes, more participation of the community in child/student’s growth and all round development, built a conducive learning environment for students and increased number of students enrolment in government schools.
GHS Thahekhu, School Management Development Committee (SMDC) vice chairman, Er. YL Sümi encouraged the students to be responsive towards CAN Youth’s project SPATIAL. He appealed CAN youth to focus on imparting skills in handloom and handicraft to the students’ community.
GHS Headmistress Zhehuli also conveyed optimism that the project will facilitate the students to enhance their confidence and skills while helping them understand their responsibilities.
An MOU between the CAN Youth and GHS Thahekhu was signed on Saturday after the launch of project SPATIAL-a life skill program for government schools.
