The Nagaland Legislative Assembly has released the provisional program of the 8th session of the twelfth Nagaland legislative Assembly during which the much-awaited report of the Comptroller & Auditor General for the year 2013-2014 will be tabled. The assembly will commence on March 17, a circular from the assembly stated on Wednesday. Among other programs, the report of the Comptroller & Auditor General will be tabled on March 17, the circular shows.
Increased perception of the public, controversies, and reported scams in the government and the government departments in the recent years has heightened interest in the CAG’s report.
The CAG’s report continues to be one of the rare few trustworthy statutory sources for the public to gauge the financial performance of the government, especially in Nagaland, a state widely perceived to be increasingly engaging in corruption during the recent years. The latest instance is the alleged embezzlement of more than 12 crores by officials of the state’s most controversial department, the disgraced School Education department.
