Jakhama, Oct. 24 (EMN):
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio called upon the electorates of Jakhama, a village under 14-Southern Angami-I assembly constituency, to give their support to Medo Yhokha, the candidate for ruling Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).

Rio said that Southern Angami-I A/C has produced many dynamic leaders in the past. He expressed sadness over the untimely demise of Vikho-o Yhoshü, the former NLA Speaker, who was from the constituency.

Rio stated that the party had chosen Yhokha to fill up the vacancy left by the former Speaker. Therefore, he called upon the electorates of Jakhama to vote in favour of the ruling party’s candidate.

The chief minister also highlighted the issues of Naga movement, delimitation and economy among others.

Rio said that his last meeting with the Union Home Minister, Home Secretary, IB Director, constitutional experts and legal experts in New Delhi was positive. He also said that the exercise of delimitation will take place soon in Nagaland ‘and justice will be delivered to all for equal representation’.

The chief minister acknowledged the Angami tribe for reposing their trust in his leadership as he continues his tenure as the chief minister for the fourth time.

As such, he appealed to the electorates from the village to consider the stand of the ruling government and vote in favour of them.

Yhokha, the consensus candidate, while speaking on the occasion, said that with the blessing of god and the people in the villages, he had come a long way to represent NDPP during the bye-poll.

He assured that if he is elected, he will “whole-heartedly” strive for inclusiveness and welfare of the youth, women and the elderly. He, therefore, appealed to the electorates to strengthen the hands of the chief minister and uplift the government by supporting him.

A host of star campaigners for NDPP also spoke at the campaign. NDPP leaders including Chingwang Konyak and Zhaleo Rio attended the rally.

Konyak also urged the villagers to vote in favour of Yhokha, so that he “could finish the incomplete works and fulfil the unfulfilled dreams of Yhoshü”.

Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, reminded that the chief minister has been visiting Delhi to meet central leaders every now and then.

As such, he also requested the people to vote in favour of Yhokha ‘to support the advantage of chief minister’s able leadership who will work for their prosperity and welfare’.

Minister Neiba Kronu stated that under the able leadership of the chief minister, lots of crucial developmental projects are going to take place.

On that account, he sought the votes of the electorates and support Yhokha for growth, development and transparency.

Later, another NDPP campaign was held at Phesama.
