Borphukan’s birth anniversary kicks off in Diphu

Diphu, Nov.18 (EMN): The week-long celebration of the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Borphukan commenced on Friday with a march past by the Assam police personnel in Diphu town.
The march past kicked off at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium.
Later during the day, the deputy commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Madhumita Bhagawati, detailed the programmes for the celebration.
On Friday, the office of superintendent of police, Karbi Anglong , took out a march.
On October 19, an essay writing competition will be organised for all schools and colleges.
On October 20, a marathon race has been organised by Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association, Bokajan branch, at Santipur playground along with tree plantation drive to be conducted by special principal chief conservator of Forests, Diphu and DFO in all educational institutions and government departments of Dhansiri, Diphu town areas and Tamulbari.
The DC said on October 21, a marathon race will be conducted by Assam Tea Tribes Students Association, Bokajan Branch, from Bokajan Sports Association playground to Bokajan Police Station and back.
