BMS Jotsoma, Mt. Hermon registers win

Kohima, June 28 (EMN): Baptist Mission School (BMS) Jotsoma and Mount Hermon Higher Secondary School (HSS) won their respective match on day-3 and entered the second round of the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football tournament, jointly organised by Kohima Royal Club and School Education department at Kohima local ground on Wednesday.

In the first match, Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma defeated Naga Bazar Baptist School, Kohima by 2-0.
During the match, BMS Jotsoma took the lead in the 33rd minute through Keneivizo and one minute later, BMS doubled the lead via a corner kick where Viseneilie Rino headed in the 2nd goal in 34th minute. The second half saw BMS team holding on till the last minute to win the match.
In the match, two players of BMS Jotsoma namely Neikieto and Mhasinyiizo Peseyie were cautioned with a yellow card for foul play.
With the win, BMS Jotsoma will face St.Mary’s Higher Secondary School on July 3 in the second round. In the second match, Mt.Hermon HSS narrowly defeated Chandmari HSS via a tie-breaker 3-2 after the match ended in a goalless draw.
During the match, Rain played spoilsport as the match was put on hold for more than half an hour. Both the team had their share of finding the net but rued the missed opportunities that came their way. Chandmari should have taken the lead when they scored a goal in the 8th minute but was called an offside.
The encounter ended without a goal scored and the match had to be decided by a tiebreaker where Chandmari players failed to convert the penalties and Mt Harmon escaped a narrow defeat. With the win, Mt.Hermon HSS will now play against BHS Tseminyu in the second round on July 3.
