Kohima, Sep. 26 (EMN):
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland unit president, Temjen Imna Along, has directed all party workers to desist from lobbying, campaigning and declaration of candidatures until further notice.

In a notification issued on Monday, Along stated, “The Bharatiya Janata Party, Nagaland State hereby directs all party office bearers at the state, districts and mandal levels, Karyakartas, Karyakarnis and party members at all levels to desist from any form of lobbying, campaigning, declaration of candidature(s) in any manner whatsoever.”

It stated that the seat-sharing formula and the selection of candidatures thereof would be decided and declared by the party’s Central Election Committee in due course of time.

The president stated that the notification is being necessitated in the interest of the party to prevent propaganda and misconception, for strict compliance until further notice.

It warned that any violation of this directive would invite ‘stern disciplinary action’.

The notice came two months after the Nationalist Progressive Party (NDPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced that the allies would continue with the 40:20 seat-sharing formula of 2018 polls (NDPP- 40; BJP- 20) in the upcoming elections to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly too.
